Balanced Eating

What is it?    Balanced eating is balancing complex carbs, lean proteins and dairy & unsaturated fat at each meal AND balancing glucose levels throughout the day by listening to your hunger levels.

Balanced eating is based on 4 key principles:

Learning your hunger signals:  eat when you are hungry and stop before you get full,

 

Balancing carbs with protein and fat: this will help you avoid highs and lows in your glucose levels and staying satisfied for 3-4 hours between meals.

 

Realizing there are no good and bad foods:  only healthy and non-healthy foods.  Choosing healthier foods that you really enjoy can allow you to make room for special treats now and then, without causing spikes in glucose levels.

 

Stop judging yourself:  You cannot always eat healthy foods, or want to.  So don't feel guilty when you indulge in a special treat, just keep that indulgence within reason.
